Now here's a story. The first eccentric experience of my life was when I went to live as a 16-year-old runaway with a certain Mrs Maisie Russell. Already in her 80's, She had learned to fly in the 1920s, had travelled extensively throughout Africa where her father had been, as she put it, building railways and railway bridges. After the war she had returned to England and settled for being the wife of the Lord Mayor of Leicester. She lived in a huge mansion on the most expensive street in Leicestershire called the Ridgeway in Rothley. It was a wonderful, fascinating time and she remains one of the most interesting people I ever met. When I think back to her pottering around the garden, she was always dressed in something like this. How fitting therefore to remember her with this wonderfully luxurious and comfortable travel jacket.
It is made from 100% pure cotton supplied by Larusmiani of Italy. The cotton was originally developed for the British Army North Africa Corps in the 1930's by Larusmiani themselves. It has a wonderfully authentic feel to it, gives a light, breathable and comfortable feel, whilst durable enough for the most arduous travel.
The jacket, like all of our products, is made here in our own workshops. The buttons are English made real horn.
