The outer fabric is extra fine merino wool, woven by the best tweed mill in the world in our opinion. Lovat Mill of Hawick, Scotland. A water repellent finish is applied to the tweed. We can offer a choice of 40 different tweeds in this quality. There is also a heavier version available if you want the jacket to be like your Grandfathers old heavy tweed. Difference between the two? The Merino Wool one is 140z per metre and handles like a tweed sports jacket. The Heavier one is 21oz and could be described as having a handle like an overcoat..

This jacket is also available for the same price in our excellent 80% Extra fine merino wool, 20% Alpaca, Austrian Loden fabric, supplied by Leichtfried of Austria.

The lining fabric is a soft, waterproof and windproof microfibre that we buy from Olmetex of Italy. They have been around for a long time and their expertise with outerwear fabrics is unsurpassed. In the early 1900s they were one of the foremost mills around Lake Como, weaving silk into performance outerwear. They still offer those products today along with a range of technical fabrics.

In between the lining and the outer fabricIs a 150g Thermal insulation that we buy from the Primaloft company. Their innovative approach and commitment to research and development means that they are way ahead of the game. Their product is as soft and as performant as genuine down fabric and when you feel the handle, there is a reason why their insulation is twice the price of the competition.

We use a chunky size 10 antique brass zip and the leather is fine English cowbelly.

All of these elements combined together with the design of our four pocket jacket means that you would be investing in a timeless piece that you will never tire of wearing.

This jacket doesn't cost what it does because you are paying for fancy marketing or added brand premium. We are a small company with our own workshop in the heart of York, UK and it's simple. We make all our own stuff using the best fabrics in the world. We publish who we buy from so that you can look up and see these suppliers for yourself. Therefore we don't do the price game. We pay a lot more for our raw materials and we make in England, offering you the best and most luxurious items all tailored by our team of expert artisans.
