This style is similar to a trench Mac, worn by Belgian soldiers in the 1950s. We love these old styles, because they are so functional and offer plenty of room, as well as looking very stylish! More than 30 years ago, when I was learning the ropes of design and patternmaking, I had a wonderful teacher called Eric Smith, and he was something of a walking encyclopedia about these old styles from many nations, and it left the lasting impression. He was the head Pattern cutter for a brand long since obsolete, but quite famous in its day, they were called Gannex. Another inspiration on the shape of this brand.

This Mac is made from a beautiful traditional canvas drill fabric that we buy from Olmetex of Italy is unlined but fully waterproof and on the inside you will see a contrast colour which is the coating that makes it waterproof. As with everything else we make it ourselves, and if you want to tweak the style in any way, we are open to your ideas!

We also offer the style in either single Ventile or Double Ventile or the wonderful Loro Piana waterproof New Zealand Merino wool fabric. If your choice is the latter, you can then add either a Ventile lining, or a wool merino tweed lining. All options can be selected at checkout. Lastly, we also offer this coat in Loro Piana 100% cashmere storm system..
